We announced SLEEPO in a 2015 blog post three years ago.
We teased SLEEPO's release in 2017 and then went silent. But now, for real, we are announcing SLEEPO's premiere at the Silver Scream Festival 2018 in downtown Santa Rosa on February 16th.
The premiere is today, in other words: three years and three months since I had the thought, "You know, I should direct something."Read More
In Stefan Perez's long awaited (by mother) follow-up to "Tough Case", The Damnings is expected to be the director's biggest project with Flat Quack Films since the failed, unfinished, superhero epic, Legion of Justice. "Everyone just wants another 'Tough Case' but what if I can't do it and it's bad? What if I screw up and I'm just a hack? What will I do? Who will I take it out on? Who will have to pay?" said Perez.
The film follows two exorcists driving across the country to investigate reports of demonic possession, while being documented by a film crew to boost interest back into the church. Perez's predictable and cliched "it's like this movie mixed with this thing but instead with this" pitch of the film is "a mixture of The X-Files, Men in Black, and Reno 911 but with exorcists."
Starring in the practical effects heavy short is Richard La Rosa as Monsignor Adolfo, a veteran Italian exorcist and Miles Levin as Deacon Glenn, the reluctant trainee to the Monsignor. Miles Levin is hot off the campaign trail after posing as a Bernie Sanders decoy for the last year. "It's good to be noticed in public as someone who isn't Bernie Sanders. And I'm also glad that person is me." said Levin. La Rosa was glad to be a part of another FQF picture since the box office smash hit of Hench Life (Currently restricted in America) was released exclusively on YouTube. "Shakespeare is brilliant but sometimes you get bored of it. You have to cleanse your pallet with something like this to be reminded of how much better it is than anything else." said La Rosa.
The Stefan Perez helmed project already wrapped production at the end of May with an expected September/ October release. Or November. Maybe.
